Bukchon Hanok Village – A Time Travel Through Korea’s Living Heritage

1.   Introduction: Walking Into the Past Tucked between the majestic  Gyeongbokgung Palace  and the serene  Changdeokgung Palace  lies  Bukchon Hanok Village , a living museum of Korea’s architectural elegance. Here, narrow alleys wind through clusters of  hanok  — traditional Korean houses — some dating back to the  Joseon Dynasty (1392–1897) . Unlike an open-air museum, Bukchon is still a  residential area , meaning you’ll see locals hanging laundry, shop owners opening wooden doors, and the aroma of fresh tteok (rice cakes) drifting through the air.
